Requirements: 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Data Architect 

Work type: Remote

Duration: part time basis - (10-15 hours per week) for next 5-6 months. 


The candidate should have resided in US for 3 years out of the last 5 years in the US. 

Interview - The candidates have to be technically very strong. There will be code test. 


Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to analyze our current database design and schema and propose a modernized schema that aligns with long-term business requirements. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in RDBMS principles, data modeling, normalization and denormalization strategies, and database performance optimization. They will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, implementing indexing strategies, maintaining transactional consistency, and supporting Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication at the database level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business partners to assess current database design and provide recommendations for modernization.

  • Design and develop an optimized schema, entities, and relationships based on best practices and business needs.

  • Establish and enforce database standards, best practices, and compliance measures.

  • Ensure transaction management, audit logging, indexing strategies, and overall performance optimization.

  • Define and implement user authorization and authentication strategies, particularly for SSO integration.

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

  • Assess when to use built-in SQL data types versus custom data types.

  • Implement SQL Server Change Data Capture (CDC) for tracking all transactions.

  • Research and evaluate new database technologies and solutions.

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure adherence to database design and performance principles.

  • Maintain compliance with data governance policies and security standards.

  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum development processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in relational database management systems (RDBMS), including schema design and entity relationships.

  • Deep understanding of data normalization, denormalization, indexing, and performance tuning.

  • Experience in transactional systems and database auditing.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL development, including stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

  • Knowledge of database security, user authorization, and authentication models, including SSO.

  • Proficiency in SQL Server Change Data Capture (CDC) implementation.

  • Experience in designing and optimizing schemas to maintain data integrity and system performance.

  • Understanding of when to use custom data types versus built-in SQL data types.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure Data Factory.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and modern data architecture patterns.

  • Experience with data migration and ETL processes.
