Job Description:-
The Sr. Storage and Backup Engineering role will participate in the design, configuration, development,
integration, testing, implementation, documentation and support of the Storage and Backup infrastructure environments. The primary services handled by this role include:
• Management of EMC Avamar / IDPA backup systems to ensure all data and systems are protected,
• retrievable and able to be rebuilt from scratch within RPO’s and RTO’s established with the Secretary in
• SLAs.
• Design and implement solutions for data storage and maintenance.
• Upgrade software, apply patches, and ensure security of data.
• Implement, manage and maintain storage and backup solutions for our DR site.
• Work with business and application development teams to define requirements and propose appropriate
• storage and backup solutions and standards.
• Manage the restore testing activity and keep documentation of activities.
• Establish and maintain documentation of the current technology and solutions in place.
• Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for storage and backup architectures.
• Disaster recovery planning and testing
• Manage DR data replication to ensure data recoverability
• Asset management of storage and backup related assets.
• The Sr. Storage and Backup engineer must be able to manage storage and backup services from the planning
• phase through the implementation and management phases. He or she will interface with other team members,
• management, and end-users on a regular basis. After hours availability is required in order to respond to
• emergencies, and to perform system maintenance that cannot be completed during normal business hours.
Qualifications:
• BA/BS in CS, MIS or equivalent experience
• Minimum of five years’ experience installing, configuring, administration and managing:
• Storage: EMC (Unisphere, Unity, VNX, and Data Domain)
• Backup: EMC Avamar / IDPA, BackupExec
• Replication: EMC Mirrorview and RecoverPoint
• Deep understanding of storage, backup and recovery best practices
• Good technical knowledge of VMware and other virtualization technologies
• A self-motivated individual who has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing and delivering results on time.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
• Must have strong analytical skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Experience with the following is also a Plus:
• Netapp storage
• Microsoft / VMware certifications
• SolarWinds experience
