JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Technical Analyst, responsible for analyzing and documenting the rules and logic embedded within COBOL and CISC code on a decades-old mainframe system. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in uncovering the intricacies of our legacy systems and translating these findings into comprehensive documentation. This documentation will be instrumental for system integrators to design and execute the conversion of this data to modern systems. The role demands a deep understanding of legacy programming languages, analytical prowess, and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively. Must Have

  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to deconstruct complex code and uncover the underlying rules and logic.
  • CISC Architecture Understanding: A strong grasp of Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC) principles and the ability to navigate and interpret code written for CISC-based systems.
  • COBOL Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of COBOL programming language, with the ability to read and analyze legacy code to extract business logic and rules.
  • Conversion Design Insight: Knowledge of system conversion principles, with the ability to contribute to the design process for data conversion from legacy systems to modern platforms.
  • Documentation Abilities: Proficient in creating clear and comprehensive documentation that captures the intricacies of the system's logic for use by system integrators.
  • Mainframe Experience: Hands-on experience with mainframe systems, particularly those that have been operational for several decades, and familiarity with their operational environments.

  • Agile Methodologies: Understanding of Agile development processes, which can be advantageous in adapting to the iterative nature of system conversion projects.
  • Conversion Design Insight: Knowledge of system conversion principles, with the ability to contribute to the design process for data conversion from legacy systems to modern platforms
