Data architect/Cloud migration specialist.
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote within the United States
Duration: 3 months with possible extensions

This role will be for one of our clients in the Information Services Industry.

Job Description (as provided by our client):
Short-term goal -

• Help us to design, architect, and POC an extension for a C#/Apache Spark, AWS cloud-native
• module of a large application to scale out to support several hundred customers concurrently using FA Export. We are considering using Aurora/Postgres or TiDB and AWS DMS to create and keep up-to-date the read-only replica of the data originally stored in
• Microsoft SQL databases.

Required skillset -

• experience using Aurora/Postgres and TiDB with a focus on performance and scalability at the
• expert level
• experience using Microsoft SQL
• experience using Apache Spark (C# preferred but any flavor is acceptable)
• experience using AWS DMS or similar tool

Long-term goal -

• Help us design, architect, and POC a replacement for the Microsoft SQL databases currently
• used in a large enterprise web application focusing on the time to market and operational cost.

Required skillset -

• experience designing, planning, and executing similar projects
• experience using Microsoft SQL at the expert level
• one way to achieve the goal would be to use Aurora/Postgresql via AWS Babelfish. So experience
• using them at the expert level.

Skills Required -

• Data architecture and design
• Cloud migrations specialist
• migrations from SQL server to Aurora/PostgreSQL experience
• Aurora/Postgresql with a focus on performance and scalability at the expert level
• TiDB with an emphasis on performance and scalability at the expert level
• experience using Microsoft SQL expert level
• experience using Apache Spark (C# preferred but any flavor is acceptable)
• AWS Babelfish expert

Skills Desired -

• experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or similar tool
