SQL Server DBA duties and responsibilities


•     SQL Server DBAs usually manage a team of SQL developers, directing them throughout the process of writing and deploying database code.

• Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives.

           Monitor system's health and performance. Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.

•  Documenting the detailed configuration, application details, business owners

 •  Reviewing current jobs running on the SQL including back.

•  When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes

•  Document the company’s database environment

•           On-call troubleshooting experience with at least one productions SQL Server for a year. You do not have to be the only DBA or have DBA in your job description, but you should have been the one person that the company would call if the SQL Server service stopped working. •            Finding DMV queries to answer questions about server-level performance. •               Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security •           Provide suggestions for solutions. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

• SQL Server Installation and Patching

•           Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement

•     Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

•     Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
