Client is providing a T&M SOW in support of the design and implementation of RHSS Version 6.6.1. The project flow by phase and tasks included by phase are as defined below:
Phase I: RedHat Satellite / Capsule Server Architecture- Design & Planning
This primary goal of this phase is the work with the Bassett team to understand the specific requirements and expectations from the RedHat Satellite server implementation. The requirements will drive the implementation architecture and capabilities. The tasks included in this phase are:
· Determine the requirements and expectations from the solution. The requirements will include:
· High Availability & Capacity requirements
· Location of the physical servers intended for being managed by the solution.
· Determine the exact functionality required, such as monitoring, alerting, patching etc.
· Review current installation to determine functionality used/implemented. If that functionality must be ported over to the new installation, include in the requirements.
· Based upon the requirements, work with the Rich Products team to define and finalize the solution design and architecture. Additionally, the solution design deliverable will include a high-level document covering:
· The physical architecture of the implementation.
· Pre-requisites to solution implementation and deployment.
· IP addresses and fire wall requirements.
· The overall process and methodology RHSS will use to manage the existing RHEL servers in the environment. This would include how updates are received, cached and the process used to deploy the changes to the target servers.
· A project plan with high level implementation tasks and project flow.
Phase II: RedHat Satellite / Capsule Server Environment Installation
The goal of this phase is the actual installation of the proposed solution as per the design developed during Phase-I. This will primarily include:
· Completion of pre-requisites as determined during Phase-I
· Installation & deployment of RHSS Version 6.6. per the solution developed in Phase-I.
· Completing the core configuration of the RHSS solution in order for it to deliver the required functionality.
Phase III: Develop Target Server Configuration & Management Process.
This phase is focused on developing the configuration and process to re-configure the targets servers for management under the new RHSS 6.6.1 implementation and removing them from the current RHSS installation. This process developed during this phase will be used for mass deployment to the other servers. The tasks included are:
· Develop the process & methodology for configuring the servers for management by the new RedHat satellite server.
· Based upon the process fine tune the project plan by planning the mass deployment out to the existing servers.
The following are key points with respect to this phase:
Note 1: Rich products team will take on all activities related to the migration, testing and validation of scripts and functionality.
Phase IV: Mass Deployment to existing Servers under RHSS 6.6.1.
This phase is targeted at migrating the existing RHEL server managed by the old RHSS installation over to the new created RHSS 6.6.1 implementation. The process and methodology developed in Phase-III would be used and refined as needed for this mass deployment. The mass deployment would be done in conjunction with Rich products Change management process and schedule.
Phase V: Knowledge Transfer and Handover
By this time, the solution has been deployed, tested ad validated. This phase is focused on handing over the solution, delivering the knowledge transfer and finalizing the documentation developed during the project.
