Background:
This Business Architect position is expected to work in the Washington, DC location supporting various business area engagements in the Healthcare Payer space. Occasional travel may be required.
Purpose:
Business Architecture is a critical function at the FEP Operations Center (FEPOC). This role helps to drive business strategy-to-execution and align projects to strategic direction. FEPOC recently embarked on a multi-year technology modernization and transformation program.
Principal Accountabilities:
The Lead Business Architect will document and assess current state business and operating models, operational scenarios, business capabilities and value streams, identify gaps and opportunities to be addressed by the future state business architecture, collaborate with key stakeholders to define and communicate the future state business architecture in support of FEPOC strategic planning and portfolio management activities.
Incumbent will:
Develop business architecture products in accordance with the Business Architecture Guilds BIZBOK framework.
Partner with product owners, project managers and business analysts to plan and facilitate stakeholder / user discovery sessions to diagnose the performance of value streams and capabilities and assess the health and maturity of enabling processes, human resources, business solutions and information.
Consult with and guide product teams to ensure alignment with business architecture and to refine and extend the business architecture during project execution.
Contribute to the development and maturation of the FEPOC business architecture practice by providing input to the teams playbook and stakeholder education / communication material.
Lead peer and stakeholder review of business architecture artifacts, work products and deliverables.
Develop and maintain artifacts the business architecture modeling tool / repository.
Seek opportunities to demonstrate the value of business architecture with internal and external clients and mature the business architecture practice.
Required qualifications for the Lead Business Architect position include:
BA/BS and 8+ years of experience as a Business Architect.
Membership in the Business Architecture Guild and familiarity with the Business Architecture Book of Knowledge (BIZBOK).
Demonstrated success on large-scale vision & strategy or business transformation programs.
Excellent strategic thinking and leadership skills.
Ability to contribute toward big picture strategy and solutions while delivering on tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills and consulting presence that fosters effective stakeholder relationships and enables the informal leadership role played by architects at FEPOC.
Effective organizational, interpersonal/relationship management, analytical, communications (written and verbal) and collaboration skills at all levels.
Excellent ability to create decks and presentations (in Power Point) that are highly visual / graphical and effectively communicate business stories to a broad range of business and technical stakeholders.
Must be able to prioritize and manage time under tight deadlines, and demonstrate initiative in problem-solving.
Preferred qualifications for the Lead Business Architect position include:
Certified Business Architect (CBA), from the Business Architecture Guild.
Experience in the healthcare payer/claims/health IT industry.
Prior management and technology consulting firm experience.
Masters in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
