Position: Oracle DBA consultant
Location: Allentown PA Remote
Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related tools.
2. Design, implement, and maintain Oracle database structures, including tables, indexes, and views, based on application requirements.
3. Ensure the availability and performance of Oracle database systems through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning.
4. Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities.
5. Collaborate with application developers to optimize SQL queries and database performance.
6. Plan and execute database migrations, patching, and upgrades in coordination with the IT infrastructure team.
7. Manage database security by implementing appropriate access controls, user privileges, and data encryption.
8. Perform database capacity planning and resource utilization analysis to ensure scalability and efficiency.
9. Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing.
10. Stay updated with the latest Oracle database technologies, features, and best practices.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as an Oracle DBA, with expertise in Oracle Database 11g/12c/19c.
3. In-depth knowledge of Oracle database architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
4. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL scripting for database development and troubleshooting.
5. Strong understanding of database backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN.
6. Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other database management tools.
7. Oracle Database Administration: Proficiency in Oracle database administration is crucial. This includes installation, configuration, and upgrading of Oracle database software, managing database structures, tablespaces, data files, and control files.
8. Performance Tuning: Expertise in performance tuning is essential to optimize the database's speed, responsiveness, and overall performance. This includes analyzing and optimizing SQL queries, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, and configuring database parameters.
9. Backup and Recovery: Strong knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery strategies is necessary to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery. This includes implementing and managing backup solutions (such as Oracle Recovery Manager - RMAN), performing database backups, designing backup schedules, and recovering databases from failures.
10. SQL and PL/SQL: Proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) is crucial for querying and manipulating data within Oracle databases. Additionally, expertise in PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) is essential for developing stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects.
11. Oracle Data Guard: Familiarity with Oracle Data Guard, a high-availability and disaster recovery solution, is important. This includes configuring and managing primary and standby databases, monitoring synchronization, and performing switchover and failover operations.
12. Oracle Enterprise Manager: Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar database management tools is valuable. OEM provides a centralized platform for managing and monitoring Oracle database instances, performance metrics, alerts, and administration tasks.
13. Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC): Experience with Oracle RAC is beneficial if your organization utilizes a clustered database environment. This involves configuring and managing RAC databases for high availability, load balancing, and scalability.
14.Security and User Management: Understanding of Oracle database security principles is important. This includes managing user accounts and privileges, implementing access controls, and ensuring data encryption and compliance with security policies.
15. Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell scripting, Python, or Perl can be valuable for automating routine tasks, creating custom monitoring scripts, and streamlining administrative processes.
16. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifying and resolving database issues, such as performance problems, connectivity errors, and data corruption.
17. Experience in implementing and managing Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) is a plus.
18. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
19. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
20. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
