Job Description
QUAL NOTES:
These needs stem from Nordstrom Credit's multi-year effort to take Credit data from on-prem to the cloud (AWS)
Moving from traditional Oracle Data warehouse to cloud/data lake environment
Part of the effort is to turn current ETL processes and utilize spark and other big data tools
Candidates must have solid development skills within GoLang, Java, and JS and/or C # (2+ years in at least one of these areas)
Prefer candidates with Python/Spark experience and exposure to cloud-based project (AWS preferred)
Job Description
Engineers in Nordstrom Credit Technology apply scientific, mathematical, and social principles to design, develop, and maintain scalable and sustainable systems and solutions that modernize the cardholder experience. It's an exciting time in Credit Tech as we work to integrate the Nordstrom cardholder experience with the shopping experience across platforms and elevate the critical role that Credit Tech plays in the relationship with Nordstrom customers.
We work closely and collaboratively with our business partners to support the platforms and data necessary to acquire and service credit customers though web, text, phone, and in-store channels using Agile processes in a DevOps model that focuses on continuous improvement. We utilize technologies such as Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, and AWS to provide these foundations. We focus on automation and continuous integration and deployment to deliver quality results quickly. From new account acquisitions to account maintenance (including online and mobile interfaces), through fraud detection and payment collection, we support the entirety of a customer's credit journey.

You own this if you have
Bachelors or Master's degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent
2+ year's professional experience in and across practice areas
Languages:
2+ years' experience with Python or Scala
and/or
2+ years' experience with one or more of the following: C#, Java, Go, or JavaScript PLUS an eagerness to learn new skills
2+ years hands-on experience testing software systems in virtual and cloud-based environments
2+ years' experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle
2+ years SQL experience, particularly PL/SQL
1+ years' experience with cloud-based services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
1+ years' experience with NOSQL data sources
Experience with Big Data technologies - Apache Spark, Cloudera, Hadoop, EMR - is a plus
Experience with containerization (K8s/Docker) is a plus
Experience with messaging technologies and patterns (Kafka/SQS) is a plus
Experience with event sourcing patterns is a plus
Experience in the payment card domain is a plus
