Extensive knowledge and experience in AS400. Below are the essential topics and objectives that we are looking for in the candidate:

 1. *AS400 Fundamentals*: Understanding objects, libraries, and files. Knowledge on Key commands.

 2. *Control Language (CL)*: They should be able to automate system tasks and control job flow efficiently. Key skills include understanding program structure.  Candidate should also be capable of calling RPG/COBOL programs from CL.

 3. *RPGLE (Free & Fixed Format)*: The candidate should have the ability to build business logic with modern RPG. Core topics include free-format coding (dcl-s, read, if, eval), data structures (dcl-ds), file operations (read, chain, write, update), procedures, modules, service programs, and embedded SQL (select/update/insert/delete). Expertise in handling subfiles is also necessary.

 4. *COBOL/400 (ILE COBOL)*: The role requires maintaining legacy batch and file programs. Key areas include understanding COBOL divisions (IDENTIFICATION, ENVIRONMENT, DATA, PROCEDURE), file handling (sequential and indexed DB2 files), report logic (line counters, headers, page breaks), and embedded SQL in COBOL. Experience in inter-program calls (COBOL ⇆ RPG ⇆ CL) is essential.

 5. *DB2 for i (DB2/400)*: The candidate should be proficient in working with IBM i's relational database. They should understand physical files, logical files, and RDMS concepts in DB2400. They should also be familiar with the IFS and how to view files data using IFS. Knowledge of coding using SQL in SQLRPGILE is also required.

 6. *DDS (Data Description Specifications)*: The candidate should be able to define database files and display layouts.

 7. *Report Writing*: The role involves RPG-based reporting using O-specs, including headers, details, and totals.

 8.**Change Management (TurnOver) is also required.
