Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE: The PostgreSQL Performance Architect is responsible for managing and tuning high-availability PostgreSQL databases associated and participate in cross-functional project teams developing software involving these databases. This individual will provide proactive preventative maintenance and provide recommendations for improvements and optimizations for current and future designs. This person will assist in developing data migrations, writing SQL and reports and mentoring other engineers in optimizing and writing efficient queries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Acts as our database subject matter expert and develops the vision for our database architecture.
• Perform Architectural health checks, suggest optimizations, and design changes through a detailed summary.
• Develop and proactively review the monitoring of production PostgreSQL databases
• Participate in system capacity planning, database design, data modeling and author design documents to achieve optimizations
• Provide query / index optimizations
• Provide SQL development support and query tuning
• Participate in and / or lead production troubleshooting, testing, optimization, performance tuning, and process automation efforts.
• Responsible for the performance, scalability, and security of database architecture
• Provides key input on schema design for future reporting considerations
• Provides support to development teams with database needs for new features, and operations teams with database scripts and utilities
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
• Experience with database design in a modern, loosely coupled distributed architecture
• Experience implementing data solutions with AWS is highly desired
• Experience in data structures, algorithms, and OO Design with fundamentally strong.
• Experience tuning PostgreSQL queries and recommending solutions.
• Clear and effective writing and technical documentation skills
• Team oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent prioritization skills with the ability to see a task to completion
• Good analytical/problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated/independent/resourceful
