Title: Operational Lead

Location: 100% remote

Responsibility: -

Leadership role on the platform operations team tasked with ensuring operational integrity for Open Systems/AIX platforms. This role acts as the primary point of contact for our L2 team and is responsible for ensuring our L2 resources are providing appropriate support according to SLAs and client standards.

This is an operational leadership role that requires a good understanding of the Open Systems/AIX environments and the various toolsets required to administer, monitor and remediate (when appropriate). This role requires strong operational skills across the spectrum of technologies that we support (automation, virtualization, containers, etc.).

Operational Lead:

• 3+ years of experience managing production incidents in an enterprise environment

• 3+ years of working with L2 teams/offshore towers

• Experience training resources in operational methods specific to supported technologies

• Experience reporting on operations/intendents to all levels of management

• 5+ years doing operational level work in a UNIX/Linux environment

• 5+ years of experience with multiple flavors of Linux (RHEL, Suse, Ubuntu, etc).

• 3+ years supporting modern tools (version control, automation, configuration management)

• Experience with container platforms, cloud and DevOps/Automation.

What You Will Do:

• Facilitate a collaborative operations team environment that encourages growth through participation

• Contribute to the operational efforts of the team by actively participating in support of Open Systems and AIX technologies

• Continuously learn as new technologies are introduced into the environment

• Continuously train L2 in new technologies and standards

• Work with L2 team to validate documentation and SOPs as provided by engineering teams

• Participate in project conversations and meetings as a representative of the operations team to ensure that projects are executed with “day 2” operations in mind

• Manage notification, alerting and dashboards to ensure performance and availability.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Monitor dashboards such as Foreman, Nagios, RHV Datawarehouse, and others to ensure that systems are performing well and remain under management.

• Manage Service Now request queues to ensure L2 provides quality work according to SLAs

• Act as first point of escalation for tickets and operational tasks

• Escalate issue to proper engineering resources that require break-fix, redesign or feature enhancements

• Lead training sessions with L2 team as required to support new technologies or expand support of existing technology

• Interact with L2 resources in an ad-hoc way throughout the day to provide guidance in the execution of tasks
