I would like to share the job description of a Contract opportunity for Mainframe Developer at Fort Worth, TX.
Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Duration: Long Term (Contact)
Job Description:
· We have a project this year to cleanup dead/abandoned code on the mainframe.
· Need to address ~1.8 Million lines of code, validate that it is no longer called or otherwise used
· Will involve meetings with BNSF application owners to gain knowledge and perform verification of use
· Documentation and tracking will be required along with an understanding of code
Required:
· Highly proficient in use of TSO/ISPF.
· COBOL – able to competently read COBOL code in order to analyze relationships to other components, actual coding skills not required.
· Natural – Same as with COBOL
· JCL – able to analyze and write JCL.
· DB2 – understands the components involved in binding a DB2 application program.
· IMS – understands the various IMS components involved in creating/executing an application in IMS (batch & interactive, including IMS DB (DLI))
· Understands the relationships of all the programs and job components that make a typical mainframe application, IMS, batch, CICS, all with DB2 or IMS DB
Recommended:
· ChangeMan use from a Developer’s perspective. CICS
· Familiar with CA-7 job scheduling/relationships involved in executing a multi-job batch application.
