Position: MYSQL DBA

Location: Salt Lake City

Duration: 6+ months Contract

 

Client is in dire need of a MySQL DBA for a at least 6 months, probably more…they are open to H1, just need good comm skills and a true MySQL DBA, not a DBA that knows MySQL but predominately works something else.

 

Job Description: Our client is currently looking for a MySQL Database Administrator to join their Data Management team and assist with designing, building, and maintaining all our database systems.

 

Required Skills:

·         3+ years database administration with heavy MySQL experience

·         Performance tuning / optimization expertise

·         Experience with MySQL 5.0/5.1/5.5 (3+ years) (Prefer Percona)

·         Experience in a 24/7 production environment support

·         3+ years' experience with database design, performance tuning / optimization, monitoring and replication

·         Strong in backup and backup recovery strategies

·         Strong experience with Linux scripting (Ubuntu, Gentoo and CentOS)

·         Strong scripting ability in PHP and console usage (bash, crons, etc.)

 

Bonus/Soft Skills:

·         Some previous experience with SQL Server 2005/2008 and Oracle 10g

·         Experience with SAN

·         Able to take feedback constructively

·         Able to work well in a team and within existing development standards

·         Excellent analytical problem solving skills

·         Work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

·         Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
