Req: Looking for Data Scientist - Charlotte, NC - 6 Months Contract

Job Title: Data Scientist Location: Charlotte, NC Duration: 6+ MONTHS   Interview Mode: PHONE & SKYPE Client:  Direct Client Rate: DOE     Job Description: The resources must have hands on data science and modeling experience in delivering data science projects in a Big Data environment At least 3 years of relevant work experience in exploratory data analysis, model development, testing, model validation and model deployment (with help from technology teams e.g. familiarity with Jenkins or other DevOps tools). Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Statistical Analytics, Data Science or Actuarial Science will be preferred. Exception can be made on a case to case basis. Insurance, Health care and/or Financial Services experience is preferred but not mandatory.   Mandatory Skills: Hands on experience in identifying and testing hypotheses, establishing correlations, selecting the right algorithms, building predictive model using traditional as well as machine learning algorithms, building ensembling logic, data quality assessment, imputing and transformation as well as familiarity with typical data distributions such as normal, binomials, chi-square, Poisson, etc. Hands on experience with traditional modeling algorithms (e.g. regression, log-regression, clustering, Bayesian, etc.) is mandatory. Hands on experience with the following modeling platform are mandatory: Python, R/R Studio. Any other platform expertise is good to have. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, are needed   Additional skills Familiarity with machine learning algorithms e.g. Extreme Gradient Boosting, SVM, Random Forest, Neural Networks, etc. Hence it is a very good skill set to have for this role. Familiarity with developing and deploying models on the Hadoop environment is critical.
