Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead with strong expertise in the Banking/Financial Services domain and hands-on experience with Alation. The ideal candidate will drive enterprise-wide data governance initiatives, establish data quality standards, manage metadata/catalog solutions, and collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and trusted data management across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
• Drive data governance initiatives across banking domains such as Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Risk, Compliance, AML, KYC, and Finance.
• Manage and enhance enterprise data cataloging and metadata management using Alation.
• Define and maintain data lineage, business glossary, data ownership, stewardship, and classification processes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, analytics teams, and compliance groups to improve data quality and governance maturity.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations including BCBS 239, GDPR, CCPA, and internal audit requirements.
• Establish data quality metrics, controls, and remediation processes.
• Coordinate with ETL, Data Warehouse, BI, and Cloud teams for governance integration.
• Conduct governance councils, stakeholder meetings, and governance reporting.
• Support master data management (MDM) and data lifecycle management initiatives.

 

Required Skills

• 12+ years of experience in Data Governance/Data Management.
• Strong Banking or Financial Services domain experience.
• Hands-on experience with Alation.
• Expertise in Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, and Data Quality.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with SQL, Data Warehousing, ETL processes, and Cloud platforms.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile environments.

 

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Collibra, Informatica, Purview, or other governance tools.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP data ecosystems.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, or Hadoop environments.
• Certifications in Data Governance or Banking domain are a plus.
