Data Migration Specialist
Visa: USC,GC,GC-EAD,H4
Duration: 12+ months
Location: Remote
Interview Process: Virtual Interview via MS Teams video. (Must provide own equipment)

Must have experience with AMANDA Database fields

The main responsibilities:
1. The Data Migration Specialist is responsible for migrating data from various data sources to an AMANDA database.
2. The Data Migration Specialist is responsible for migrating data from Oracle to MS SQL Server database.
3. The ideal candidate would have participated in large data migration projects, and have experience migrating data to MS SQL Server.
4. Adhere to data standards and scripting standards set at the project level
5. Analyze existing Oracle and MS Access databases
6. Work with Business Analysts to understand the requirements and identify gaps between requirements and data in existing databases.
7. Map existing databases fields to new AMANDA database fields
8. Document and validate data mapping with the Project team.
9. Develop and document the data migration plan in collaboration with Data Architect.
10. Execute data migration plan by migrating data from the source databases to the AMANDA database.
11. Apply the data governance rules as well as data retention policies to data migration
12. Support efforts to cleanse source data via scripts and/or reports identifying data requiring manual cleansing
13. Review AMANDA table structure based on the design in AMANDA for mapping the data from source to Amanda database structure
14. Collaborate with other Data Migration Specialists and review each other's scripts to ensure consistency
15. Test data migration processes and validate data was migrated correctly.
16. Manage data migration scripts by versioning them via source control
17. Constantly work to fine-tune data migration scripts to improve performance.
18. Collaborate with the QA team on data migration activities
19. Coordinate with Data Architect for various technical documentation

Experience, Skills, Knowledge/ Required Skills:
• Minimum 5 years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Ability to write complex SQL statements to query data in MS SQL server and Oracle
• Experience writing SQL stored procedures and functions
• Ability to tune SQL queries for better performance
• Experience with Microsoft SSIS
• Knowledge of T-SQL
• Ability to write complex SQL statements
• Experience using version management tools (Git is a plus)
• Experience with Azure DevOps
• Experience with Agile Methodology (Kanban is a plus)
• Knowledge of AMANDA database structure and table relationships
• Experience with AMANDA solution from Granicus (formerly Calytera). THIS IS NOT THE ADVANCED MARYLAND AUTOMATIC NETWORK DISK ARCHIVER (AMANDA).
