Project: This job, under limited direction, is responsible for design, provision, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This may include overseeing, directing, and checking work of less senior engineers. The incumbent will help define strategy and adoption of new technologies in a single domain. Provides engineering design and support for multi-tenant platforms in a single domain including hardware, software, and automation and monitoring.
Responsibilities:
60% - Primary role is to ensure the global stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems and infrastructure that support core organizational functions, as well as to conduct/lead research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives.
20% - Experienced knowledge of job role demonstrating advanced application of technical skills and interpersonal competencies
20% - Provides direct global technical leadership and support for all requirements in developing strategy, planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to our distributed computing environment. This includes managing several small to medium-scale projects and/or tasks of various complexities across the enterprise.
Qualifications/Requirements:
As a Senior SQL Server Engineer, you will be responsible for global administration and support of the Microsoft SQL Server platform. You will work closely with our global teams in related technologies and platforms to support SQL Server infrastructure.
The successful candidate must have:
Provides direct technical support for all requirements in the planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of upgrades or changes to our Microsoft SQL Server estate
Performs capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning, and prediction.
Provides high-level support for SQL Server systems, ensuring proper change management procedures and methodologies are followed.
Position will require participation in a daytime, on-call rotation to assist with incident handling for the purpose of resolving SQL related infrastructure issues
Provides technical assistance/guidance to less experienced administrators

5 or more years of hands-on experience installing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2008 – 2019)
3 or more years of hands-on experience managing IaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure
In-depth knowledge of SQL Server internals (locking, consistency, recovery paths, replication)
Proficient in T-SQL or closely related declarative language
Basic understanding of dependent or closely related technologies to SQL Server (OS, server, storage, network)
