Opportunity Overview
At Edward Jones the Web Platform team is a highly performing team that
is a focal point of the Information Systems division portfolio of enterprise application platforms.

1. The team is responsible for multiple platforms that provide a robust application ecosystem that has enabled the reduction of the SDLC timeline and enhanced our ability to deploy new features to support growing business requirements.
2. In a Platform Engineering role, you will help facilitate high availability through the development of rapid system integrations, monitoring and a steady focus on automation. This role will bring you into contact with a diverse array of stakeholders from each area
   of the Information Systems division and will require solid collaboration skills as well as a belief in continuous improvement.

   Develop automated remediation solutions for manual, repeatable system processes to reduce Tier 1 level work Debug and correct internal and external infrastructure problems
   Develop, package, test and implement quality infrastructure solutions.
   Collaborate with development teams to deploy monitoring and alerts solutions for their applications Document and maintain procedures and system configurations for use in ongoing support and future efforts that require modifications to the infrastructure
   Assist in the adoption of Cloud infrastructure platforms and the integration of a hybrid architecture

 

Position Requirements
5+ years of experience in systems administration, automation, configuration management and deployment of large-scale platforms
3+ years of experience administering web infrastructure software such as Weblogic, Tomcat, and Apache
Experience with Linux environments and scripting languages such as bash, Python, Powershell and YAML.
Experience using automation tools such as Ansible and Ansible Tower
Experience creating and configuring monitoring solutions using tools such as Splunk, Wily and Grafana Motivated to participate in continuous learning and growth through pair programming, code reviews, application of new technologies and best practices.
Provide all levels of support for assigned systems, including rotating assignment to provide 24x7 on-call coverage and monitoring system logs and messages.
Prefer experience with containers and container orchestration software platforms such as Docker, Docker Registry, Kubernetes, Mesos/Marathon, etc.

Problem Solving:
Must be able to solve technical challenges in critical situations that require immediate resolution
Demonstrates an understanding of risk management concepts
Researches requirements to determine system feasibility, costs, benefits, or functional
requirements

Proficient in problem solving through root cause analysis using industry standard tools in more than one area of expertise
Takes complex processes developed by someone else, analyzes the structure and flow, and can make improvements without having a negative impact on other parts of the system
