Position: Development DBA
Location: Kansas City, MO

Description: 
Our Data team is seeking a Development DBA who will collaborate with our architecture, analytics, application, DevOps, and business teams to support our transactional and analytical platforms.
We are not looking for a 'heads-down' production DBA who is an expert on one relational platform. We have a homogenous environment and team members have a tactical and strategic impact as we make decisions on how to use data to deliver organizational value.
 
Tasks will entail
• Environment monitoring & troubleshooting, processing batch jobs, running backup and recovery processes, replication, ensuring physical, logical, & referential integrity.
• Maintaining data security according to Data Governance standards.
• Structuring logical and physical data elements that will meet business needs.
• Capacity management (forecasting for space, memory, processors, and backup media.)
• Ensuring business continuity with appropriate failover, procedures, and testing to ensure point in time recovery for avoiding all types of data loss, including major catastrophic disaster. 
 
Required experience
• Background on multiple platforms (SQL Server primarily, but looking for exposure to other RDBMS platforms – ideally DB2 and/or Sybase.)
• Basic DBA work (performance tuning, task automation & scripting, and patch / update management.)
• Strong SQL Development skills (complex queries, definitions, access controls, etc.)
• Strong Scripting on both Windows (Powershell/VBScript) and Linux (shell)
• Data analysis & modeling (logical & physical)
