Job title: Java Performance Engineer

The API Platform Engineering team within Digital Channels tribe needs a Java Performance Engineer to locate, analyze and develop solutions to fix performance and capacity problems within the API Eco-system.
In this capacity, the individual is going to work on application and services stacks built using Java Spring Cloud, Postgres, Axway API Gateway and AWS.
This role would also involve helping the API Platform Engineering team to establish means of sizing up the capacity of the current installation and a forecast model as new APIs are published by internal client’s teams to external customers.
Responsibilities:
· Working with teams developing and supporting API Platform
· Working as a developer as well as performance engineer on the team
· Working with other developers, L2 and Customer support to identify, analyze and propose fixes for performance problems
· Working to establish current capacity of the deployed infrastructure
· Establish a capacity model to forecast the capacity needs as new Services and consumers use the platform
· Open to learn new technologies, tools and processes with a view for performance
Skills and Expertise:
· 4 to 6 years of work experience in software development, design and testing in Service Oriented teams
· Experience should include Java, Spring Framework and databases
· Good expertise on profiling, Java tuning, database optimization, network and page performance
· Experience cloud technologies, preferably AWS
· BS in Computer Science or related experience
· Strong analytical, verbal and communication skills
· Experience with JMeter and/or other tools such as LoadRunner and optionally API testing tools, and OEM database toolsets is a plus
