Job Description :
The Infrastructure Project Manager drives the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects that are approved and funded. The position guides complex technology projects from inception through delivery and support, working in close partnership with IT and business leaders, including project, program, executive sponsors, all IT groups, as well as other leaders within the business and IT. This role is also in charge of defining objectives, creating plans to achieve objectives, tracking / reporting progress against objectives and budgets, driving execution of key projects and programs, coaching project team members and improving project management processes. This individual provides overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts. The Infrastructure Project Manager helps establish new and improves existing project management processes and methodologies for the business IT organization to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adheres to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Successfully manage and execute infrastructure projects on-schedule, on-budget, to mutual-agreed to scope and customer satisfaction.
• Accountable for in-scope, on-schedule, on-budget and high-quality delivery of all IT projects in the accountable portfolio.
• Follows and exemplifies consistent project management practices, processes and metrics.
• Develop clear, business language presentations for business senior leadership to support swift decision making and issue resolution when needed.
• Maintains, socializes and enforces the overall project management lifecycle for the company.
• Work with the VP IT, IT leaders and other Southern Glazer’s executives on key decision-making activities during project execution as needed.
• Mentoring, coaching, developing & encouraging excellence from IT project teams and less experienced project managers.
• Retool and continually upgrade personal skills and knowledge of both the business and information technology environments.
• Continually upgrade and enhance knowledge of program / project management processes / methodologies and provide a key source of expertise when needed.
• Provide tactical and strategic input to IT leadership and other Southern personnel on all aspects of projects being managed.
• Thought leader within the IT organization in helping stream-line and standardize key business processes across Southern business divisions and functions.
• Work with business leadership to document a clear vision of a business problem or opportunity being addressed with IT services, and how it supports the business plan.
• Incorporate best practices into IT organization, beginning with project / program management practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 5+ years managing enterprise IT projects ? 7+ years IT Infrastructure work experience supporting a large IT user environment (8,000 - 10,000+ IT users). This experience should include working as an Infrastructure SME implementing and/or supporting enterprise solutions (Network administration and/or engineering, structured cabling, VoIP, etc.).
• Experience managing complex technology projects involving data centers, network infrastructure, IT systems security, server and storage platforms, telephony systems, enterprise architecture, desktop, and mobile technologies.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Project, preferably in an organization using Microsoft Project Enterprise, to manage, track, and report project activities.
• Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Visio to create floor plans, IT rack diagrams as well as process diagrams • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Excel to create financial models, what-if scenarios, and forecasting • Ability to perform task, schedule, and budget estimations to complete required artifacts • Develop, manage, forecast and report on all project financials.
• Ability to analyze a project schedule to ensure delivery to agreed-upon milestones as well as leverage techniques within the project plan make course corrections to meet committed deliverable dates (e.g. leveraging CPM/CPA).
• Strong understanding of and ability to execute project management methodologies and tools.
• Ability to lead a project team in the successful completion of projected related activities per an approved plan.
• Ability to assess and communicate performance-to-plan vs. approved budget, schedule and scope.
• Ability to elicit, document, assess, report and monitor project risk events in terms of probability and impact • Experience developing and executing plans to mitigate risks and lower impact of issues • Experience working in a process and governance driven environment • Ability to negotiate and manage resource assignment and forecast capacity with non-dedicated, shared enterprise project resources without compromising ability to deliver on commitments • Infrastructure delivery experience at a large consulting/services organization is a plus • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong team player with willingness to collaborate • Strong analytical and problem solving/decision making skills • Experience presenting, escalating, and providing solutions to senior leadership • Capability to understand infrastructure environment as well as how the different systems and services contribute to daily business operations • Has discretion in making tactical decisions • Provides input on strategic decisions to management as required • Expected to be creative to help develop high-impact changes in project management processes or strategies
