This position requires knowledge of retail business processes and systems with a strong focus on Pricing, Promotion & Markdown Optimization, ideally in an apparel retail environment. This position will be a liaison between business partners, IT solution architecture and delivery teams responsible for application design/development/QA/rollout SDLC activities and ongoing business support. The Business Analyst will have responsibility for one or more domains within the Retail Planning & Assortment Management function. Success in this role requires business engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and influence outcomes in a cross-functional matrix organization. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to translate abstract concepts into defined objectives, business requirements, business processes and functional specifications and an actionable product roadmap. Responsibilities: - Technology thought leadership – technology evangelist, promoting our business strategies and advancing our technology capabilities through knowledge of best practice with customer focus in the Retail Pricing and Markdown space
- Partner with business to develop analytics capabilities to optimize markdown timing and depth using price elasticity models, machine learning, analytical modeling, item affinities and cannibalizations
- Establish collaborative and productive relationships with internal GIS department, business partners, external partners
- Responsible for developing business requirements relating to Price, Promotion and Markdown Optimization, translating them into functional specifications for the DTC Technology organization and managing changes to such specifications
- Articulate, assess and prioritize business requirements and partner with business/technology teams for successful delivery of these capabilities
- Leverage deep knowledge of product management best practices, functional design to deliver robust, future ready capabilities in the Price, Promotion, and Markdown Optimization space
- Review and validate QA test strategy/plans
- Coordinate user acceptance with the business teams
- Own, prioritize and facilitate the refinement of product backlog to ensure that the product team is delivering the right enhancements at the right time to drive consumer and business value.
- Demonstrate Price, Promotion, and Markdown functional and best practices experience and leverage these to promote our technology capabilities.
- Own functional documentation including but not limited to requirements documents, product backlog, functional specification, business process documentation etc. for merchandising, planning & allocation
- Assist the business and enterprise change management teams to build and execute change management and training strategy for new applications
- Provide transparent/honest status and communication to business stakeholders and leadership.
Qualifications & Experience: - Ability to engage with business resources to gauge current and future strategic needs and analyze the impact of future price, promotion, and markdown application capabilities
- 7 years relevant experience in implementing/supporting business and systems processes, preferably in the retail industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant business experience
- Prior experience as a Retail Applications business analyst/product manager, ideally in price, promotion, and markdown optimization role.
- Experience with analytical models pertaining to product life cycle, price elasticities, and demand transference.
- Strong understanding and experience in project management methodologies
- Strong experience in L2/L3 IT ticket based IT operations support related to pricing and merchandising
- The ability to develop strong relationships and build consensus among cross-functional stakeholders with different objectives and perspectives
- Prior knowledge of retail product lifecycle and markdown optimization methodologies is required
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point) expertise including making effective presentations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in both agile and waterfall SDLC environments
