Job Description

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead with strong Banking or Financial Services domain expertise to lead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing governance frameworks, data quality standards, metadata management, regulatory compliance, and data stewardship practices across banking data platforms. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, risk teams, compliance teams, data engineering, and analytics teams to ensure trusted, secure, and compliant data management practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise data governance initiatives across Banking and Financial Services domains
• Define and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices
• Drive data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and master data management initiatives
• Collaborate with business units, compliance, risk, and technology teams to improve data governance maturity
• Establish and manage data stewardship programs across business functions
• Oversee implementation and administration of data governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview
• Define KPIs, governance metrics, and reporting dashboards for data governance effectiveness
• Support audit, regulatory reporting, and risk management initiatives
• Lead data classification, data ownership, and sensitive data management activities
• Work closely with data engineering and analytics teams to improve data consistency and reliability
• Conduct governance training and promote data literacy across the organization
• Participate in strategic data management and digital transformation initiatives

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Enterprise Data Strategy
• Strong Banking or Financial Services domain experience
• Deep understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, metadata management, and data stewardship
• Hands-on experience with governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview
• Strong understanding of banking regulatory and compliance requirements
• Experience with data lineage, business glossary, and master/reference data management
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills
• Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
• Strong communication and documentation abilities
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications

• DAMA/CDMP certification preferred
• Experience in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, or Risk & Compliance domains
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Experience leading enterprise-level governance programs
