Role: DMS- Scada Engineer

Location: Charlotte-NC, Raleigh-NC, Cincinnati-OH, or St Petersburg, FL(onsite)

This position provides application support for DMS (Distribution Management System), which provides tools to operate the electrical grid. This team supports the DMS application across all four regions, so applicants could be located in Charlotte-NC, Raleigh-NC, Cincinnati-OH, or St Petersburg, FL. Support of the DMS ensures it is available 24X7 and operating properly to meet the needs of the operators in controlling critical electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following.
• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
• Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team.
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
• Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
• Provides support and system maintenance of DMS applications (SCADA, FISR, Self-Healing, Load Var Management, Powerflow, VMS, FMS, and database updates to ensure DMS matches field).
• Works with DMS teammates to ensure proper cyber security for DMS environment, including periodic maintenance such as server reboots through our automated procedure.
• Develops procedures and processes for new technologies or changing business needs to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, regulations and company requirements.
• Serves on 24x7 callout rotation

Required/Basic Qualifications
• Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Computer Science or other appropriate degrees.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.

Desired Qualifications
• Previous experience with General Electric Grid EMS/DMS systems
• Previous experience with real time computer systems, including programming languages (C++, C# etc.), scripting languages (PERL, PYTHON, POWERSHELL etc.)
• Previous experience in automation, dev ops, and system design
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Increasingly proficient in practices of research engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations
• Previous power system engineering experience, modeling, flow analysis experience
• Previous experience in an Operational Technology role or in IT
