Job Description:

The Texas Railroad Commission ITS division requires the services of two experienced Informatica developer technical resources preferably with experience moving mainframe data (IMS COBOL) to Oracle (12c or 19c) via Informatica on-prem (10.2.n and 10.4.n versions) hereafter referred to as Worker, who meets the general qualification of a Developer/Programmer Analyst - Emerging technology.

 

Performs advanced (senior-level) Informatica specific developer/programmer analyst work including: data modeling; implementing, designing and managing database systems, data warehouses, and ETL Data Interfaces.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.

Experience in Data Modeling, Database Design, PL/SQL procedure writing, and advanced ETL mapping.

Experience using Informatica Power Exchange for IMS including creating from scratch ETL mappings from IMS to a RDBMS. ---OR---

2+

Experience using Informatica PowerCenter including creating, debugging, and unit testing workflows.

2+

Experience with Oracle as a source or target.

Experience using Data Modeling software such as ER/Studio, Erwin, or Toad Modeler (Toad Modeler preferred).

Experience in hierarchical database and relational database design concepts including direct experience in IMS Databases, VSAM structures.

Experience performing discovery of and translation of COBOL programs, VSAM, and IMS to relational database structures.

Experience in the documentation of complex database concepts, data objects, data governance, data ETL processes, and database schemas including the creation of ERD diagrams and UML parent/child data relationship diagrams.

Experience with taking convoluted and unfactored database structures and unmodeled data and having an end-to-end vision for both logical, physical and conceptual database construction and architecture.

Experience with Informatica Navigator to create mainframe Capture Registrations.

-

Experience with static maps and Change Data Capture (CDC) for bulk data movement.

Ability to work well within a small, diverse team under various competing deadlines.

Good communication skills (interpersonal, listening, written and oral), be self-motivated, organized, thorough, and efficient.

 

Preferred (Optional)

  • Reviewing data storage and data flow to develop data models to ensure data integrity.
  • Generating advanced SQL queries and using other data interrogation methods.
  • Reviewing and interpreting business requirements and design specifications and translating them into Informatica mappings and workflows.
  • Writing, revising, and verifying Informatica processes and procedures (including interface control documents, process workflows in Visio, and operational processes for Informatica).
  • Leading the Informatica-related technical direction of a small team, to include the ability to troubleshoot and review code for staff knowledge transfer or training.
  • Skill with data movements/Extracts (ETL) from Mainframe applications (prefer IMS COBOL).
  • Experience in relational database design concepts including direct experience in Oracle RDBMS.
  • Experience in hierarchical database and relational database design concepts including direct experience in IMS Databases, VSAM structures.
  • Development with Informatica on-premise software. Experience must be with Navigator data mappings or with PowerCenter workflow development.
  • Experience using Informatica Power Exchange for IMS including creating from scratch ETL mappings from IMS to a RDBMS. ---OR---
  • Experience using Informatica PowerCenter including creating, debugging, and unit testing workflows. ---OR---
  • A combination of experience in Informatica Power Exchange and PowerCenter that has a minimum of 3 years in one and a total of over 8 years combined.
  • Experience using Informatica/ Power Exchange Navigator to create mainframe Capture Registrations.
  • Experience with static maps and Change Data Capture (CDC) for bulk data movement.
