The API Architect/Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing an API testing, governance, and management strategy. This will involve reverse engineering our current API Gateway and implementing these APIs in the Apigee Edge API Management Platform. Candidates for this position must be able to perform both the role of architect as well as high-skilled developer. The API Architect/Engineer must have a sound understanding of API and technology architecture, very good communication skills, with the ability to adapt them to different audiences.

Job Description

PURPOSE: We are looking for an API Architect/Engineer to join a small but motivated team to assist with transition from our legacy API Gateway to Apigee. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The API Architect/Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing an API testing, governance, and management strategy. This will involve reverse engineering our current API Gateway and implementing these APIs in the Apigee Edge API Management Platform. Candidates for this position must be able to perform both the role of architect as well as high-skilled developer. The API Architect/Engineer must have a sound understanding of API and technology architecture, very good communication skills, with the ability to adapt them to different audiences. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: • 4+ years of experience in a full-time hands-on architect role • Deep knowledge and experience with the Apigee Edge API management platform • Knowledge of Swagger or other API documentation technologies as well as integration with API portals • Knowledge about API design standards, patterns and best-practices • Proven track record of acting as SME for API projects • Background in strategically aligning, consolidating, and remediating point-to-point integrations with APIs. • Standardize the CI/CD setup for Apigee for automated deployment using Jenkins • Strong DevOps mindset • Experience Scrum based delivery and DevOps • Previous experience of building integrations that leverage GitHub or GitLab APIs • Experience in API implementation and life cycle management • Experience in restful and soap service design • Create custom policies in Java, JavaScript, Node js, Python etc in Apigee or any other APIM • Strong hands on experience with one of the programming languages like Java, JavaScript. or NodeJS • Strong API-first mindset, and experience with API Management platforms (ideally Apigee) • Create REST API documentation using Swagger and YAML or similar tools • Software craftsman who values quality over quantity. • Demonstrates a commitment to Hyatt core values EDUCATION: Minimum Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
