The Item Catalog area supports item and product master data that is used throughout the Walmart enterprise. We provide systems that store item data, provide item data management, and provide secure access to the data for use by other Walmart systems.

As a Software Engineer in the Item Catalog area, you would be responsible for:

• Managing small to medium-sized complex team projects by:
o Reviewing and understanding project requirements and translating requirements into technical solutions,
o Writing and developing code & test cases (Java, SQL, No-SQL, Jersey, Tomcat, YAML, Cloud Computing, Junit, Mockito, Camel, JIRA, Kafka, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Google Guice),
o Utilizing industry best practices for storage and retrieval of big data (REST, Cassandra, Hadoop, DB2, SQL Server)
o Senior-level review of code & test cases,
o Modeling and improving development, security, and agile best practices within the team,
o Providing Subject Matter Expert (SME)-level knowledge of code, testing, technical processes, and business processes,
o Establishing, automating, and improving continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines
o Communicating and collaborating with team members and business contacts (status, issues, etc.),
o Delivering software releases to production environment by building out robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines, and
o Updating online documentation
• Troubleshooting technical issues by:
o Performing root cause analysis using well-defined troubleshooting techniques,
o Updating test scenarios to ensure quality of future releases, and
o Ensuring systems, software, and dependencies are updated with latest security patches
