JOB DESCRIPION:
This position is responsible for implementation, configuration, and support for monitoring IT infrastructure and application environments. Incumbent will work with others to design, build, implement, and support monitoring configurations. You will maintain monitoring platforms, ensuring alert mechanisms and escalation processes are established based on availability and performance metrics. You will train other operations and IT staff on monitoring tools and overall framework to support management of infrastructure and applications running across multiple internal and Internet facing data center environments.
Essential Functions:
Advanced knowledge of SPLUNK and ITSI (Searching and reporting, Creating Splunk Knowledge Objects - fields, look ups, Data Model, Summary Index etc, Creating dashboards and Views etc)
Advanced knowledge of Python\ Linux script to manipulate SPLUNK data
Support enterprise monitoring solutions and IT tools including but not limited to SPLUNK, ITSI, AppDynamics, Solarwinds, VictorOps, New Relic and XtraHop
Provide day-to-day administration of APM Monitoring Platforms to ensure the availability, performance, and security of the overall monitoring platform
Research new technologies and products related to end-to-end application and infrastructure monitoring to suggest new monitoring solutions, insuring the enterprise is using current and not outdated technology
Develop and manage components of application performance monitoring (APM) and develop rules, alerts and notifications
Develop availability, response time metrics, and KPI reporting process for all essential systems and application
Collaborate with business, R&D, infrastructure, operations and other key partners to ensure operational readiness of new solutions and ongoing optimization/improvement of existing solutions
Maintain knowledge on monitoring platform best practices; recommend changes to platforms or architecture as necessary to ensure adherence to best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience:
Five (5) years technical operations experience within a 24x7 environment (Production) with complex, multi-tiered, and highly available clustered systems (Linux/Windows) on premises and cloud required
Three (3) years of experience, implementing and maintaining Enterprise Monitoring Application required
Three (3) years administering SPLUNK with ITSI experience preferable
Scripting experience with languages such as VB, Java, PowerShell, and/or Python required
Two (2) years of experience monitoring IBM WebSphere applications and services utilizing IIB, Data Power and MQ
Education:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Computer Science or Business and Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Overall knowledge of IT logical, technical, and monitoring architecture principles
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids
Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
Demonstrated excellent analytical and quantitative skills
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making decisions
Ability to install, develop, and administer SPLUNK ITSI to develop operational intelligence following best practices
Understand and apply event correlation in a complex business environment and comprehend a "big picture" view
Ability to travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality of materials handled
Ability to be flexible and work under high pressure in a complex environment
