Job Title: Data Center Specialist
Location : Kings Mountain, NC
Job Type: Fulltime
Job Description:
• 5+ years of Data Center experience managing highly technical server, networking, and storage environment.
• Understanding and working knowledgeable in Data Center standards, procedures, and best practices (i.e. basic fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power, etc.)
• Ability to provide engineering and project management support on multiple simultaneous projects.
• Experience working with Tape operations.
• Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy with PC-based (e.g. Microsoft Office) and web- based applications for data entry and database changes.
• Experience working in an IT project that involved group coordination, design, procurement, tracking, and installation of IT infrastructure equipment.
• Ability to collaborate with different individuals across the organization and within other geographies.
• Must be detail oriented with ability to work with extreme care and precision in our production environment.
• Outstanding organizational, customer service, and interpersonal relationship skills required.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in both written and oral media and be a team player.
• A "self-starter" and comfortable working without direct supervision.
• Must be able to lift and secure computer equipment up to 50 lbs. Must be able to safely climb a 6 foot ladder, lay cross-connections of fiber and copper cables.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the full lifecycle of IT system hardware, offering services from receiving to physical setup, network cabling, initial power-up, and retirement.
• Data Center project coordination, design, procurement, tracking, build-out, migration, consolidation, and carrier coordination.
• Secure IT assets, maintain inventory, and preform audits.
• Preload/Build/Configure new server and data center infrastructure hardware (UPS/PDU)
• Equipment rack, stack, cabling, and hardware break fix.
• Work off web base ticketing system to ensure high availability of all our IT systems in our data center (Petaluma) and server rooms throughout the enterprise.
• Preform and manage installation of server, network, storage equipment, which may including new circuits, cross connects, and power.
• Manage critical IT Infrastructure –generator, PDU, UPS, fire suppression system and HVAC.
• Coordinate vendor access/activities for server, network, and infrastructure repairs.
• General shipping and receiving duties.
• The role will be involved in Hands & Feet Datacenter support of highly critical production environment and will be engaged in ensuring uninterrupted Data Center services.
• Demonstrate ownership and responsibility in all assignments
• Enough expertise to identify and recommend changes/improvements to the process and infrastructure design.
• Good experience with Tapes operations
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently
• Show adaptability and flexibility in work to suit business requirements
• Providing emergency intervention in ITIL lifecycle processes Incident and Problem management to provide 2nd / 3rd level support in response to Major Incidents.
• Resolve moderate to complex (P1, P2 and P3) incidents and problems effectively and in a timely manner
• Providing 24X7 production support and available for escalations
• Responsible for performing root cause analysis and long-term fixes
• Responsible for implementation of medium to complex components of a project module, change request.
• Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions
• Work in a cross-cultural team and communicate effectively
• Server, network switches and PDU racking.
• Fiber and copper cabling including installation of power cables to devices.
• Network connection troubleshooting (Copper and Fiber cables).
• Cable labeling (Fiber Cables).
• Laying out trunk lines (Fiber and copper cable trunk line).
• Must be available for night and weekend trouble calls and scheduled maintenance (rotation whoever is on call).
• Vendors access request creation utilizing Service Now application.
• Crimping cat5/6 cables.
