Job Description : 

The Linux Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all Linux based server systems are properly deployed, maintained, administered, supported and updated in an effective manner. They will also support a DevOps team to enable them to use AWS in a CI/CD and Infrastructure as code model. This individual will assist other engineers and analysts in implementing innovative and cost effective technology services encompassing both hardware and software based systems, to support our objectives for customer satisfaction, growth and organizational effectiveness.
Under the direction of the Linux and Storage Systems Manager and working in conjunction with our partnered vendor resources, the Linux Administrator will recommend, implement on-premise Linux server, over 300 servers in 4 data centers, and VMware hardware and software as well as associated technologies, as well as contribute to the Cloud Platform Team. 



Qualifications:  
•    At least 5-7 years experience in enterprise-networking environment.
•    Experience in Programming and Automation (Ansible and/or scripting)
•    At least 3-5 years experience in supporting Linux servers
•    Experience / familiarity with basic related technologies such as networking, relational databases (Oracle, MariaDB), client-server architecture
•    In depth knowledge of at least one major commercial Linux platform.
•    Excellent oral and written communications skills.
•    Understanding of security systems and requirements
•    Fluency in at least one major shell scripting language (shell, perl, python, ruby, etc…)
•    Related practical business and technical experience
•    Bachelors degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities: 
•    Install, configure and support the currently Linux operating systems and VMware by creating and using automation – 0%
•    Research new technologies, which are aligned with business goals. – 10%
•    Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise with the Linux servers or VMware technologies. – 5%
•    Assist application development teams with software that is to be deployed on a Linux server. - 15%
•    Assess security implications for any system changes that may arise and respond accordingly. - 5%                
•    Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of server hardware and software. - 5%                
•    Maintain vendor contacts and relationships to ensure timely and effective resolution of problems/failures. - 5%              
•    Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating technical documentation as pertains to the enterprise network. – 10%
•    Be able to manage and support related peripheral technologies including disk backup system. - 5%
•    Other assigned duties. - 10%
