Job Description: Hadoop Administrator

Responsible for installation and ongoing administration of Hadoop infrastructure in Hybrid Cloud environments

Involves designing, capacity arrangement, cluster set up, performance fine-tuning, monitoring, structure planning, scaling and administration.

Accountable for storage, performance tuning and volume management of Hadoop clusters and MapReduce routines.

Collaborating with application teams to install Hadoop updates, patches, version upgrades when required.

Responsible for configuring and managing high-availability cluster, backup and disaster recovery procedures

Reviews performance stats and query execution/explain plans, and recommends changes for tuning Hive/Impala queries

Scripting and automation of daily tasks.

Working with data delivery teams to setup new Hadoop users. This job includes setting up Linux users, setting up Kerberos principals and testing HDFS, Hive, Pig and MapReduce access for the new users.

Aligning with the systems team to propose and deploy new hardware and software environments required for Hadoop and to expand existing environments.

Proactively Monitor Hadoop cluster health and security. Automate alerts and

Diligently teaming with internal IT and business intelligence teams to guarantee high data quality and availability.

 

 

Qualifications

 

BS in Computer Science with overall 6-8 years of Linux Administration and 2-3 years of Hadoop Administration using Cloudera

Strong Linux skills and shell scripting

Extensive knowledge about Hadoop Architecture and HDFS , YARN, Spark, Solr ,Impala, Hive and MySQL

Expert level hands-on experience installing and managing Hadoop Clusters

Familiarity with data loading tools like Flume, Sqoop, Kafka, StreamSets

Strong understanding of Hadoop security concepts and implementations (Authentication, Authorization and Encryption)

Full understanding of the backup and recovery process as well as patching

Experience supporting hosted services in a high-volume customer facing environment

Experience in Docker and Kubernetes is a must.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement multi-platform databases using relational and/or NO-SQL systems, such as Oracle, HBase, Cassandra.

Demonstrated effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. 

Experience in installation, design, capacity management, performance tuning, monitoring and scaling of Hadoop environments.

Troubleshoot Job issues, Impala queries, User Quota issues and Fix performance issues.

Ability to work independently and delivery results to meet deadlines with strong emphasis on automation

Ability to mentor new Hadoop Administrators

Hadoop Administrator Certification is preferred
