ROLE TITLE Data Modeler

ROLE LOCATION(S) Purchase, NY; New York, NY; Florham Park, NJ; Conshohocken, PA; Charlotte, NC

ROLE SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Modeler is responsible for defining and managing critical data structures for current and future needs. The primary responsibilities are to gather business requirements and translate them into logical data models, and to create technical design specifications including source to target mapping documentation for ETL developers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop entity relationships (ER models) for normalized and dimensional models

• Assist and guide existing Data Modelers and Data Architects

• Technical evaluation for assignments involving existing models for legacy applications and creation of new model in support of application development

• Work closely with the ETL, BI, DBA and other teams to develop appropriate data models

• Participates in collaborative working environment using the agile methodology

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to business partners, peers and vendor partners

• Performs related duties as assigned or requested


    REQUIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (in order of level of need)

• 10+ years of BI/DW and data modeling experience 

• 5 years of P&C insurance business and systems such as Guidewire Policy Center, Guidewire Claims Center, SAP FS-RI & SAP FS-CD is a huge plus

• Knowledge of Data Warehousing, ETL and BI architectures, concepts and frameworks

• Deep knowledge of Kimball and Inmon approaches and the core differences

• Experience in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models

• Capable of facilitating data discovery sessions involving business subject matter experts

• Experience in translating/mapping relational data models into Data Base Schemas

• Experience with modeling tools (such as ERWin and ER/Studio)

• Knowledge of RDBMS platforms (e.g. SQL Server, DB2) with experience in generating DDL)

• Ability to create and maintain conceptual/business, logical and physical data models

• Ability to translate a logical model into a physical model, adding appropriate physical objects needed to create the database e.g. indexes

• Experience maintaining a model repository

• Ability to synchronize models to ensure that database structures match models

• Familiar with metadata ingestion and translation

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

ROLE SUMMARY

Business Analyst for Guidewire ClaimCenter Application to support project and other initiatives. The Business Analyst will be responsible for creating business and functional requirements definition for claims processing and administration as well as downstream systems and reporting integrations. Responsibilities will also include planning and facilitating user acceptance testing.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct requirements definition for Claims solutions. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their business requirements, informational needs and data sources. Translate these business needs into clearly defined and documented detailed business requirements/ functional requirements inclusive of business use cases, process flows, data flows, traceability matrices as well as screen mock-ups 

• Provide claims processing subject matter expertise to the IT team throughout the project. Review development and test deliverables as needed

• Plan, facilitate, and conduct requirements elicitation sessions, meetings, and presentations

• Collaborate with development and testing teams to provide subject matter expertise, ensure that out of the box functionality is leveraged and to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues

• Lead review sessions for completed business/functional requirements with key business users focused on gaining consensus and final business approval 

• Participate in the development of User Acceptance Test planning documentation, including test plans and scripts, based on business and functional requirements

• Facilitate UAT execution phase and work with business stakeholders and project manager to obtain user acceptance test signoff

• Conduct project planning and estimating efforts as needed

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of proven experience in business analysis including defining Insurance business, functional and reporting requirements and conducting user acceptance testing for business-critical solutions in complex environments

• Experience with Guidewire Claim Center systems is required. Detailed claims processing knowledge and experience with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 

• Experience with Guidewire Policy Center is preferred

• Proven hands-on experience in writing and executing MS SQL query is required

• Insurance/Reinsurance industry experience and knowledge with an understanding of the terminology, business functions (Claims) and business processes

• Experienced with formal SDLCs and business analysis methodologies and working knowledge of business analysis documentation standards

• Agile Methodology experience a plus, but not required

• Industry knowledge of claims processing for the Insurance or Reinsurance markets

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Extensive experience in using standard project tools including Microsoft Team Foundation Server (via Visual Studio), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project members and stakeholders. Must be a team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources

• Strong initiative, able to self-manage. Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done. Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time

• Team player who works well with technical and business resources

• Personal time management skills and ability to meet individual and team deadlines
